The Pre-Feasibility studies conducted in 1997 identified three (3) critical sections of the road namely:
Section I: San Jose-Rizal (16.591 kms); Section IV: Sablayan-Santa Cruz (61.978 kms); and Section VI: Mamburao-Abra de Ilog (37.442 kms), which were damaged by flood, scouring, embankment failures, slope failures and aggradation/degradation of river deposits. Also included are 18 bridges with total length of 1,157.3 meters, 74 kms drainage improvement, 23 kms of slope protection works and river training works. The San Jose-Mamburao-Abra de Ilog Road (208 km) is the main trunk route in Occidental Mindoro and forms a part of the National Arterial Road Network, and with ferry services at San Jose, Sablayan and Abra de Ilog, provide an integrated transport system linking the province to Luzon island through the ports of Manila and Batangas.
Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided:
The Consultant’s scope of services covered the following work items:
Detailed engineering design including cost estimation and preparation of detailed specifications;
Assistance to the PMO-PJHL in pre-construction activities – prequalification of Contractors and bid evaluation;
3. Construction supervision;
4. Assistance to the DPWH and Project Committee in land acquisition; and
5. Transfer of technology to the DPWH and the Provincial Government staff.
