PROJECT FOR SUPPORTING SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM IN TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES
Detailed Narrative Description of Project:
The Project for Supporting Senior High School (SHS) Program in Technical Vocational High Schools (TVHSs) was implemented to support the Department of Education's (DepEd) K to 12 Reform during the modeling and early implementation phase of Grade 11 and Grade 12. The project shared promising practices and strategies in SHS modeling with other TVHSs nationwide as a resource reference to enhance School Improvement Plans. The project helped DepEd develop a mechanism for school-industry partnership, with the following output:
1.) mismatches/gaps between competencies of graduates and needs of industries are identified at the pilot TVHSs and addressed in their SIPs;
2.) pilot schools are enabled to collaborate with firms and organizations, and
3.) SHS schools nationwide are informed of piloted activities and best practices in SHS.
Detailed Description of Actual Services Provided:
The Project Coordinator and Administrative Staff provided support to the JICA Project Team members through:
Coordination with pilot and model schools, DepEd offices, government agencies, private sector firms and other organizations for proper implementation of the technical assistance project;
Assistance in the procurement of goods and services for partner schools, including finalization of bid documents;
Conduct of evaluation and monitoring at project sites, including provision of analytical inputs in assessing project performance;
Secretarial duties for JICA Project Team, including preparation of memoranda and minutes of the meeting;
Participate in project review missions as necessary, and collect needed data for preparation of Public Relations documents and other reports.
